2005 Autumn in Kansai - Kyoto
Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion
One of Japan’s best-known sights; thus becoming one of the highlight places for our trip. the three-storey pavilion housing sacred relics of the Buddha is covered in gold leaf and topped by a bronze phoenix. The present building dates from 1955 as the pavilion was burnt by a fanatic monk in 1950. It is a Zen temple.
