BeNeLux - Netherland to Luxembourg

We rent a car from the Schiphol airport. Our first agenda for the trip is at the outlet mall in Roermond since it is situated on the way to Luxembourg, the first country in our plan. Everyone does a small shopping.

From the flat land of Netherlands, we stop and take some photos with the hillside of Luxembourg.

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a landlocked country in western Europe, bordered by Belgium, France and Germany. The country has a highly developed economy, with the world's highest GDP per capita according to the IMF and WB.

We stay at the Luxembourg Youth Hostel at the lower part of the city near the Viaduct.

Therefore, a walk uphill is required to visit the old city. But the terrific view is more than compensated.

View of the new town and the lower old town.

Having a hot chocolate cup at CHCO in the heart of the old town to refresh before we continue our strolling.

(more details: about the chocspoon, please take a look at CHCO)

My friend and I both fall in love with the drink and we decide to bring some back home as souvenirs for our friends (actually after a night passed, we go back there on tomorrow to buy some more. 555)

The palace is on the right side, the Chocspoon shop is on the left side.

Palace of the Grand Dukes In its function as the city residence of the Grand-Ducal family, it is situated right in the core of the Old Town. Formerly the first town hall of the city occupied the site of the present palace; destroyed by a gunpowder explosion (1554), the town hall was rebuilt 20 years later. In the middle of the 18th century the former City Scales were added as an extension, whereas the Chamber of Deputies was built as an annex in 1859.Since 1890 the main building has been the Grand Ducal Palace. From 1992 to 1995 it was restored thoroughly.
